I love Maine!

My Roots run deep here and my connection to the land is part of my heritage.

I spend a lot of time in the woods and on the waters of Maine, sketching, photographing, and writing about what I see. My paintings start with these observations.

In the studio, I work from my notes and photographs to create acrylic paintings on canvas and wooden panels. They take days, months, and sometimes years to finish. I am a slow, thoughtful painter, spending lots of time just looking at and living with my works in progress. Feeling my way into the scene. Finding the essence of place, to create a quintessential landscape. Often my paintings are of a specific place, though I strive for them to have a universal quality that conjures a sense of place.

The ocean, mountains, streams and lakes … the trees, mosses and leaves … the Sun, clouds and sky.

I love the sparkle of light on water, the flicker of sunlight on leaves, the ethereal quality of a sunset.

My muse is nature. My goal is serenity. I hope that my paintings conjure a sense of peace, and a greater appreciation for the natural beauty that surrounds us.
